How much can you save with time-variable grid fees?

With a heat pump, EV charger, or home battery, §14a EnWG Modul 3 lets you pay lower grid fees during off-peak (NT) windows. Calculate your additional annual savings.

What you need to know about §14a Modul 3

§14a EnWG Modul 3 introduces time-variable grid fees: standard (ST), high (HT), and low (NT) tariffs. If you shift steerable consumption into NT windows, your grid fees drop. Modul 3 requires Modul 1.

Typically eligible devices

  • Heat pump
  • EV charger (wallbox)
  • Home battery storage
  • Storage heater

Since April 2025, grid operators must offer Modul 3. Most households do not know how much they could save.

What Modul 3 does NOT mean

Not a supplier switch

This is about grid fees only, not your energy supplier price.

Modul 1 stays in place

You keep the flat Modul 1 credit. Modul 3 adds incremental savings on top.

Smart meter required

Modul 3 requires an intelligent metering system (iMSys). Without it, you see a projection.
